3 Ways I Worship the LORD
No matter what we are going through, what our circumstances look like, or what we are currently feeling, we can still worship our amazing God. Our lives may feel questionable and uncertain, and our situations may all point downhill towards destruction, but God is still God. He is still all powerful, all knowing, and always present! He is still on His throne, and He still loves us. The Bible tells us that nothing can separate us from Christ's love (Romans 8:38). Our circumstances or even sins, do not change who God is. It doesn't change His character, love, power, or goodness. Our LORD is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8) and He will always be in control, regardless of what's happening. Life will throw us curveballs, we get blind sighted by unexpected events, and may even face disaster; but we can still choose to worship the LORD. God is looking for worshipers.
John 4:23-24 says 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
How do you worship the Lord? I want to share three ways that I worship the Lord, no matter what I face. The first way I worship God is by singing. I sing songs I hear on the Christian radio station, songs from the Hymnal (Hmong), or songs I make up myself. These songs could be songs of lamenting, joy, praise, or thankfulness. Whatever I'm going through, I can usually find a good song for how I'm feeling. I don't have the greatest voice, but God gave me this voice, and I use it to worship Him in songs and praise! King David was the author of the Book of Psalm, and he often poured out his heart in his songs. Psalm 96:1-6 is one of my favorites:
Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols. but the LORD has made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.
Secondly, I shout! I praise Him and declare His goodness, authority, and power! I shout Bible verses, prayers, and thanksgiving words. Why not? He is my Savior, Redeemer, and Creator! It's normal for fans to shout for musicians, athletes, or fireworks, why can't we shout for the Lord? When I shout, I give it all that I have! O clap your hands, all peoples; Shout to God with the voice of joy the Bible says (Psalm 47:1). Our shouting can also be a battle cry. As the Israelites were going in to overtake Jericho, they shouted and the city wall collapsed (Joshua 6:5). Their shouting was so powerful that the wall could no longer stand. This is remarkable! I personally think when we shout, our spirit man rises up in us, and the demons tremble. 2 Chronicles 15:14 says they made an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets and with horns, why shouldn't we?
Thirdly, I cry. When my heart is so heavy and burdened, and cannot be released any other way, I weep. I weep for the injustices; I weep for the hurting and lost, all those walking in darkness; and I weep for myself. I weep because of my own sin, and how I personally nailed Jesus to the cross. I weep because of friends and family members who don't know the truth of God's love and grace, and continue living an empty and void life. Jeremiah 13:17 says if you do not listen, I will weep in secret because of your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly, overflowing with tears, because the LORD'S flock will be taken captive. I may also weep because no one truly knows my heart or understands me, except God. People may misinterpret me, criticize me, or hurt me so I cry out of pain and anguish. It may be because I don't have the strength to talk, or because I don't even have the words to pray. I may weep in gratitude and joy, or I may weep in sorrow or desperation. Whatever the reason, the crying always helps, and takes a great weight off of me. Psalm 126:5-6 says that those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
Above I listed three ways I worship our mighty God, but there are many more. As written above, we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Though we use our mouths to sing, shout, and praise, we can also dance for Him, clap, pray, paint, share, witness, give, and so much more! Our worship has the power to bring healing and freedom, and break bonds and chains! We must worship with all of our heart! We each have so much to thank God for, and so much to worship Him for. The birth, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ gives us life! Hallelujah! Jesus has taken care of all our problems at the cross, and when he returns, we will be home, in Heaven with our Maker! That's more than something to sing or shout about! Now that I have told you how I worship the LORD, how will you worship Him?
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father and Creator of all,
We come before you today to worship You! You are so great and mighty. You're full of love, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, and grace. You are so good to us, all the time, even though we don't deserve it. You are glorious and hold all power, wisdom, riches, and honor! Thank you for the readers and also for this message. Holy Spirit, teach us how to worship the LORD in spirit and in truth. Give the readers understanding of what Jesus' death and resurrection did for them. Give them joy and reason to praise! You are so loving and there is no one like YOU! May our worship and praise be a sweet smelling aroma and fragrance to You. Lord, minister to the readers wherever they are, and meet their needs as they worship You. Bless them abundantly above and beyond what they could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20) and meet their needs according to Your riches and glory (Philippians 4:19). You know what they need and I believe that You will provide and supply. Thank You Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
Prayerfully,
Pam
