FAQ

  • What is the difference between counseling and Christian coaching?

With counseling, I am only able to service and treat clients in Wisconsin since that is the only state I am licensed in. In counseling, we address a person’s background, childhood and history that may have impacted a person’s psychological well-being. We collaboratively try to understand and resolve issues that may be hindering a person from healing and thriving. Generally, the duration of therapy can be as short as 3 months and last up to 2 years. In this format, I can see individuals, couples, or families.

With Christian coaching, I am able to see clients nationwide, however, the services are not billable to insurance. The main focus will be present-time issues and goals for the future. It is time limited based on each person’s needs and will generally not last longer than 12 months. Christian coaching will only be offered 1:1.

  • How do I know if I need therapy?

If you have gotten to a point where you are tired of being tired, not able to function as you would like to, cannot regulate your emotions, or feel stuck and hopeless, it may be time for therapy. However, therapy is not always about treating symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. It could be that you are considering a job change or are adjusting to a new season of life. Therapy can help change the way you think and see things, become more confident, and gain insight about yourself and others.

  • Why is therapy helpful?

Therapy can be helpful because you are talking to a non-judgemental person who seeks to hear, see, and understand you. It helps that they are not related or emotionally tied to your issues, so they can see more objectively. They can offer other perspectives, act as a sounding board, provide psychoeducation, and use interventions from various treatment modalities

  • What is Christian counseling?

Christian counseling is similar to counseling with a Christian lens or emphasis. It may include reading or dissecting Scripture, incorporating Biblical beliefs and values, centering in prayer, and more. As a Christian, choices are led or based on moral standards and guidelines as a Christian, and Christian themese and topics will be integrated.
